Crisis Intervention Stress Management

Therapy first aid is a specific, 7-phase interactive crisis intervention model used to facilitate psychological closure and reconstruction following exposure to a traumatic event (crisis or critical incident). CISM has been a go to during times of personal and national disaster like COVID. Goals of critical incident stress management are stabilize, normalize, restore adaptive functioning, and identify individuals and/or groups who may need additional professional intervention. "It is not the stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it" (Hans Seyle). The goal is to intervene quickly to stop the symptoms from becoming entrenched.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy provides therapist and client the opportunity work one-on-one to establish a safe space for ameliorating a variety of symptoms. Presenting challenges include depression, anxiety, stress, emotional neglect and abuse, grief, quality of life, quality of work, finances, domestic violence, pregnancy and childbirth, conflict resolution, relationship quality, culture and ethnicity, shame, vulnerability, resilience, LGBTQIA and a host of other issues. Phases of individual therapy include rapport building and forming a working alliance, presenting symptoms, formulating specific goals and objectives, and working through.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy provides couples across the life cycle the opportunity to build a strong marriage and healthy relationship. Many of our power struggles in a marriage begin with communication impasses and unmet childhood needs. I will show you how to transform your impasses into a mutually beneficial, emotionally and spiritually fulfilling journey. It begins with a comprehensive assessment of your strengths and growth areas across 13 scales necessary for a healthy partnership.

Trauma Therapy and Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing EMDR

Our memories and experiences give life to who we become. Memories are stored in our brains and form networks that link past with present experiences and feelings. Sometimes current crises trigger unresolved wounds. Whether you have experienced minor disruptions or major setbacks over the course of your life span, whether you remember your experiences or not, EMDR provides simple techniques for soothing pain and suffering. EMDR is successfully used to address adverse life experiences that interfere with daily living. EMDR is a unique and powerful opportunity for you to get out of your rut and create your best life.

Tele-therapy

Tele-therapy allows the psychologist and client to work remotely. This greatly expands the range of treatment options. You can meet from the comfort of your own home, your office, a business destination away from home, a vacation destination, or wherever you choose. Tele-therapy provides ease, convenience, and flexible scheduling. Dr. Sears offers a secure, HIPPA compliant platform. No special applications or software are needed. All that is required is a computer, laptop, cell phone or tablet, an internet connection, and your desire.

Mediation

When conflict is intractable and separation appears inevitable, conflict mediation is a non-adversarial, compassionate way to solve issues. Mediation can work in any kind of situation because it teaches you to solve problems, an important skill in every arena of your life. Conflict is here to stay. Conflict is not a fight to be won. The winners in conflict are those who learn to solve problems mutually. Mediation offers the best way out. Contact me if you are embroiled in intractable conflict and seeking to make seemingly irreconcilable difference reconcilable.
